We have L.H.S. (x+1)^2 = x^2+2x+1

Therefore, (x+1)^2 = 2(x-3) can be written as:

\Rightarrow x^2+2x+1 = 2x-6

i.e., x^2+7 = 0

Or x^2+0x+7 = 0

This equation is of type: ax^2+bx+c = 0.

Hence, the given equation is a quadratic equation.
