 Case 1 - Power dissipation in the wire initially

                     P_{1} = \frac{V^{2}}{R}

Case 2 - The wire is cut into two equal pieces. Therefore the resistance of the individual wire is \frac{R}{2}

                    P_{2} = \frac{V^{2}}{\frac{R}{4}}

                   P_{2} = \frac{4V^{2}}{R}

            \Rightarrow P_{2} = 4P_{1}
