(assume that the Ge diode has large breakdown voltage)

  • Option 1)

    0.4 V

  • Option 2)

    0.6 V

  • Option 3)

P -N junction as diode -

It is a one way device. It offers a low resistance when forward biased and high resistance when reverse biased.

- wherein

R = 0, Forward

\rightarrow \infty Reverse

V_{o}  before reversing G_{e}

V_{o1}=\frac{12-0.3}{5k}      (Since threshold voltage of G_{e} <  S_{i} , so  G_{e}  conducts)

V_{o}  afer reversing G_{e}

G_{e} is reverse biased , so S_{i} conducts current

\therefore V_{o2}=\frac{12-0.7}{5k}

\therefore Change = 0.4V

Option 1)

0.4 V

Option 2)

0.6 V

Option 3)

0.8 V

Option 4)

0.2 V
