Absolute decrease in value of 'g' -

 

\frac{\Delta g}{g}=\frac{g-g'}{g}=\frac{d}{R}

g'\rightarrow Value at depth

d\rightarrow depth

Value of g decrease with depth.

 

 g'=g\left ( 1-\frac{d}{R} \right ),,,,d=16km

g'=g\left ( 1-\frac{16}{6400} \right )=g\left ( 1-\frac{1}{400} \right )

g'=g\frac{399}{400}

\frac{g-g'}{g}=\frac{1}{400}

% decrease in weight = \frac{mg-mg'}{mg}*100

=\frac{g-g'}{g}*100

=\frac{1}{400}*100= \frac{1}{4}= 0.25%
