                                        r \propto \frac{1}{\sqrt{\rho}} \propto \frac{1}{\sqrt{M}} 

               

As      r \propto \frac{1}{\sqrt{M}}

So \frac{r_{new}}{r}=\sqrt{\frac{M}{M_{new}}}=\sqrt{\frac{M}{4M}}=\frac{1}{2} 

So the new rate of diffusion of gas will become half of the initial rate of diffusion of gas
