Reaction of alcohol with KI in presence of sulphuric acid -

 

Conversion of  -OH into I in presence of H2SO4 is not possible.

HI is good reducing agent.

 

 

H2SO4 oxidizes HI to I_2 making the reaction impossible.Instead H_3PO_4 can be used.
