@Nilesh  When resistors are connected in series, the current through each resistor is the same and 

 the total potential difference across all the resistors is equal to the sum of the potential differences across each resistor.

For example when resistor R_{1} , R_{2} ,R_{3} are connected in sereis then 

R_{eq} = R_{1} + R_{2} + R_{3}
