Equivalent mass -

It is equal to the molecular or atomic mass divided by the number of electrons involved in the reaction per molecule, atom or ion.

e.g. 2H_{2}O\:+\:2e^{-}\rightarrow H_{2}\:+\:2OH^{-}

2 Faraday of electricity is used to produce one mole of gas 

\therefore    Eq. Mass of hydrogen=\frac{2.016}{2}=1.008

 

 80 g of oxygen is produced by 316 g of kMnO4 

8 g \rightarrow 31.6 g\;of\;KMnO_4

Equivalent mass of KMnO4 in acidic medium is 31.6
