As we learned

Condition for negative deviation -

When A - A interactions and B - B  interactions  are  weaker than A - B interactions.

e.g. Acetone + Chloroform

- wherein

\Delta H_{mix}< 0

\Delta V_{mix}< 0

(V_{f}< V_{A}+V_{B} )

\Delta H - Change\: in\: enthalpy

\Delta V - Change\: in\: volume

Chloroform & acetone form a non-ideal solution, in which A.....B type interaction are more than A...... A & B......B type interaction due to
H -bonding. Hence, the solution shows, negative deviation from Raoult’s Law i.e.,

\Delta V_{mix}=-ve;                            \Delta H_{mix}=-ve;

\therefore  total volume of solution = less than (30 + 50 ml)

    or < 80ml

Option 1)

> 80 ml

Option 2)

< 80 ml

Option 3)

= 80 ml

Option 4)

\geq 80 ml
