Types of Ligands on the basis of charge -

There are  3 types

- wherein

(i) Neutral - having No charge but lone pair

 eg: 

(ii) Negative charged - having -ve charge

 eg:  Cl^{-}, C_{2}O_{4}^{2-},CN^{-}, F^{-}

(iii) Positive charge - having +ve charge but are very less

   eg: NO^{+}

 

 

 Ligand must have capacity to donate lone pair of electrons to form co-ordinate bond.
