To get maximum current through a resistance of 2.5 \Omega one can use ' m ' rows of cells, each row having ' n ' cells. The internal resistance of each cell is 0.5 \Omega. What are the values of nm, if the total number of cells is 45.

Equivalent internal resistance is given by -r_{eq}= \frac{nr}{m}

For maximum current, net resistance of cell must be equal to 2.5\Omega

i.e. \frac{n\left ( 0.5 \right )}{m}= 2.5.....................(1)

And \, \, m\times n= 45..........................(2)

Solving,we get n=15,m=3
