Alkanes on heating in presence of air or O2 are completely oxidised to CO2 and water with the evolution of large amount of heat.

\mathrm{C_xH_y + \left ( x+ \frac{y}{4} \right )O_2 \longrightarrow x\ CO_2 + \frac{y}{2}\ H_2O}

Therefore, option (1) is correct.
