Strenght of Sigma and Pi bond -

Strength depends on the extent of overlapping. Since the strength of overlapping is large in \sigma so sigma is stronger compared to \pi bond.

\pi bond is never formed alone. whenever there is a multiple bond  i.e. double or triple, \pi bond is formed.
