IESIES 2018: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared IES result 2018 for preliminary exam on February 17. The result of IES 2018 preliminary exam has been announced online. Candidates who appeared for the preliminary exam can check their result. IES cutoff 2018 will be made available after the final result is annnounced. UPSC conducts Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam for recruiting engineers to various posts in various departments of the central government. IES exam is also known as Engineering Services Exam (ESE). The commission had announced a total of 588 vacancies for various departments under Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics and Telecommunication engineering disciplines. The IES 2018 exam is conducted in three phases – Preliminary, Mains and Interview/ Personality Test. UPSC had conducted prelims exam of IES 2018 on January 7. The candidates who have qualified the prelims exam will not appear for the main exam on July 1. The dates of Interview/ Personality Test will be announced after the declaration of result of mains exam. Marks obtained by candidates in all three stages will be considered for final merit list. IES 2018 Vacancies

UPSC has announced 588 vacancies under Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics and Telecommunication engineering categories. Out of 588 total vacancies,18 are for PH candidates (LDCP-5 & HI-03) vacancies. The number of vacancies may change at the time of appointment. Reservations will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Physically Disabled Category in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government of India.

IES Important Dates 2018

UPSC released IES 2018 notification on September 27, 2017. The candidates were able to fill IES application form 2018 from the same day itself. IES Eligibility Criteria 2018

The eligibility criteria of IES 2018 gives details about the eligibility requirement set by UPSC for candidates interested in applying for the exam. The IES eligibility criteria includes nationality, educational qualification and age limit. To be eligible to appear for the exam, the candidtaes must fulfill the IES eligibility criteria 2018. Academic qualification: At least a bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E. / B. Tech) from a recognised university or equivalent is a must to be eligible for appearing in IES 2018 exam. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects are acceptable for certain services / posts only.

Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 to 30 years.

Nationality: Indian/ Nepalese/ Bhutanese/ Tibetan Refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 to settle in India or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to settle in India.

IES Application Form 2018

The application form of IES 2018 was released on September 27, 2017. The last date to fill IES application form was October 23, 2017. Candidates were required to fill the application form online. The application fee for IES 2018 was Rs 200 for General and OBC category candidates and women/SC/ST/ PH candidates were exempted from paying the same. The application fee could be paid either through offline or online mode. The IES application form 2018 was to be filled in two parts – Part 1 Registration and Part 2 Registration. IES 2018 Part 1 Registration

In Part I registration, candidate had to fill basic information such as personal details, academic qualification, address, email ID, contact number etc.

Part 2 Registration

In Part 2, candidates had to pay application fees, select centres, upload photograph and signature and agree to declaration.

IES Exam Cities 2018

UPSC released the list of IES exam cities along with the notification. Candidates were required to enter their choice of examination centre while filling the online application form. Candidates were allotted exam cities on first-apply-first-allot basis. The exam cities of IES prelims and mains are different.

IES Admit Card 2018

The admit card of IES prelims exam 2018 had been released by the UPSC on December 12, 2017. The admit cards had been released for only those candidates whose applications had been accepted by the examination authority. The IES admit card had been made available online and candidates can access their admit cards through the link provided on this page. Candidates could download IES Admit Card 2018 by entering either their roll number/registration number and date of birth. The IES admit card 2018 for mains exam will be released in mid of June 2018 for only those candidates who will qualify the prelims exam.

IES Exam Pattern 2018

The exam pattern of IES gives details about the marking scheme, stages of examination, mode of exam, number of questions, number of sections and total marks. The IES exam is conducted in three phases – Preliminary, Mains and Personality Test. The preliminary examination as per IES exam pattern 2018 consists of objective type questions. The exam will comprise two papers – Paper I General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and Paper 2 Engineering discipline specific paper. The maximum marks allotted for Preliminary exam is 500 marks. The IES mains exam will consist of two conventional type papers on the engineering discipline chosen by the candidates. The total marks of IES mains exam are 600. IES Syllabus 2018

The syllabus of IES for both preliminary and mains examination has been defined by UPSC. The IES syllabus of engineering specific discipline has been framed as per the curriculum of engineering degree examination of an Indian University. The standard of General Studies and Engineering Aptitude papers will be basically of an Engineering/Science Graduate level. IES Sample Papers 2018

Candidates can download here the sample papers of IES 2018. The IES sample papers will give the candidates a fair idea of the paper pattern, difficulty level, topic-wise distribution of questions, marks distribution etc. The sample papers will help candidates enhance their problem solving ability and boost up their speed. Candidates should solve the sample papers regularly to prepare for the IES 2018 exam in a better way. IES Answer Key 2018

The answer key of IES Preliminary examination will be released by coaching institutes after the completion of exam on January 7, 2018. Candidates can download here IES 2018 answer key for all sets of question booklets – A, B, C, D. Candidates who will appear in the exam can check correct answers to General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and Engineering Specific disciplines. Based on correct and incorrect answers, candidates can calculate their probable score for IES 2018 preliminary exam. UPSC will release official IES answer key of preliminary exam after the completion of recruitment process.

IES Result 2018

The result of IES will be released by UPSC in three phases – Preliminary, Mains and Final. At the first stage, the IES result of preliminary exam will be declared followed by mains and final result. The commission will release IES result 2018 of prelims tentatively in February, 2018. On the basis of the marks in preliminary exam, the candidates will be selected for IES 2018 mains exam. The number of candidates to be selected for mains examination will be about six to seven times the total approximate number of vacancies. The result of IES mains exam will be announced tentatively in August/ September, 2018. Candidates twice the number of vacancies will be called for personality test. The final result of IES will be declared on the basis of the marks obtained by candidates in Preliminary exam, Mains exam and Personality Test/ Interview. The commission will decide the ranks of candidates under each category on the basis of their performance in all three stages.

IES Cutoff 2018

The cutoff of IES is the minimum marks required to qualify the exam and become eligible for next stage of selection procedure. On the basis of the IES cutoff of written stage, the candidates will be selected for Personality Test/ Interview. The commission will decide IES cutoff for preliminary examination out of 500 marks to select candidates for mains examination. Similarly, UPSC will decide cutoff score in mains examination out of 600 marks. Based on IES cutoff 2017 of prelims and mains, candidates will be selected for Personality test. The final cutoff of IES will be based on the marks secured by qualified candidates out of 1300 marks. The IES cutoff 2018 for all the stages- Prelims, Mains and Final will be released after declaration of final result. The commission will prepare All India Merit list based on the category-wise and discipline-wise cutoff score. Candidates whose names will feature in the merit list will be given appointment to the various posts.
