G2 phase occurs after the S phase. During S phase, DNA is duplicated. One strand of DNA that makes up a chromosome is duplicated to form two strands. So, before S phase,chromosomes have one chromatid, after S phase each chromosome will have two chromatids. If the initial amount of DNA is denoted as 2C then it increases to 4C. However, there is no increase in the chromosome number. Therefore, 100 units of DNA will become 200 units but the number of chromosomes will remain the same.

Hence, the correct option is (c).
