Nervous System and Sense Organs in Aschelminthes:
- The nervous system is made up of four nerve cords that run dorsally, ventrally and laterally.
- These nerve cords fuse near pharynx at the anterior end to form the ‘brain’
The following sense organs are present:
- Papillae that occur on lips and behind the cloacal aperture. They are tactile in function.
- Amphids that are present on the lips and are chemoreceptors.
- Phasmids that are present at the posterior end and are glandular sensory in function.
