Photorespiration is also known as C_{2}  pathway. It occurs when there is a high concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere. It does not lead to synthesis of sugars,  ATP and NADPH. During photorespiration, RuBP  instead of being converted to 2 molecules of PGA binds with O_{2} to form one molecule of 3 carbon phosphoglycerate (PGA)and one molecule of 2 carbon phosphoglycolate. Hence, the correct answer is option b.
