Stomach of Ruminants -

  • In ruminants like cattle, sheep and deer etc. the stomach is structurally very complicated.
  • It has four specialised chambers called abomasum, rumen, omasum and reticulum.
  • The abomasum is the main stomach connected to the small intestine.
  • Reticulum and omasum receive the chewed cud and absorb volatile fatty acids.
  • The food is swallowed as such. It is then pulped and fragmented in special chambers of the stomach and then regurgitated back into the buccal cavity in the form of cud.

Abomasum is the main stomach connected to the small intestine. Hence, the correct answer is option c.
