The intestine is divided into:

  • Pretyphlosolar region: 15th - 26th segment has small villi.
  • Typhlosolar region: 27th - last from 25th segment has both villi and typhlosole. Typhlosole is a highly vascular and glandular fold increases the absorptive surface area of the intestine.
  • Post-typhlosolar region: It is also known as the rectum. It is in the last 23rd - 25th segment in front of anus. It lacks villi and typhlosole.
