Venation -
The arrangement of veins & veinlets in leaves (lamina) is known as venation. Venation is of two type - reticulate and parallel.
Reticulate venation - Many vein (mid-vein) divides into various branches (veinlets) and form a net like structure. Ex: Dicot plants except callophylum.
- When many lateral veins arise from central mid of rib and proceed toward margin and apex of lamina, is called pinnate or unicostate . Ex: Mango, peepal
- When many principle veins arise from the petiole and proceed upward called multicostate or palmate. Ex: Camphor, Tejpata, China rose
Parallel venation, - All veins run parallel to each other and do not form network. It is found in monocot except smilax.
