Yellow elastic connective tissue -
- This tissue consists of a loose network of thicker and branched yellow fibres.
- It contains irregularly scattered fibroblasts, mast cells, macrophages etc.
- Strength and elasticity of this tissue are very high.
- Yellow elastic tissue is also of two types
- Yellow fibrous cords (ligaments): In this type, the yellow elastic connective tissue forms cords called ligaments. These join a bone to another bone.
- Yellow fibrous sheets: The yellow elastic connective tissue forms sheets. It occurs in the walls of blood vessels, lungs, bronchioles, the cartilage of the larynx, trachea, capsules of the spleen.
