As we have learnt in:

Midbrain or Mesencephalon

  • The midbrain connects cerebral hemispheres with cerebellum.
  • The midbrain lies between the pons of hindbrain and the forebrain.
  • The most dorsal part of the midbrain is called the tectum.
  • It is sometimes referred to as the corpora quadrigemina, which means "four bodies".
  • It is made up of one pair is called superior colliculi and the other pair is called inferior colliculi.
  • The ventral part is referred to as the crus cerebri.
  • It includes massive bundles of fibers that pass from the cerebral cortex to the brainstem and spinal cord.
  • Cerebral peduncles (Crura cerebri) or tegmentum are two bundles of fibres which lie on the lower or inferior surface of the midbrain.
  •  A cell group called the substantia nigra separates the tegmentum from the crus cerebri.
  • The cerebral aqueduct, which is surrounded by gray matter, separates the tegmentum from the tectum.

Therefore, the ventral part is referred to as the crus cerebri. Hence, the correct answer is option c.
