 Let the mass of square plate be M then the mass of rectangular plate is 

\frac{M}{a^2} \times \frac{a^2 }{4\times 2} \Rightarrow M/8 \\\\Now \\ x _{cm} = \frac{m_1x_1+m_2x_2}{m_1+m_2}

x_{cm}=\frac{M\times0+M/8(5a/8)}{M+M/8}

x_{cm} = 5a/72 \: \: \: y_{cm} = 0
