Characteristics of gymosperms -

1-Ovules are not enclosed by any ovary wall and remain exposed before and after fertilization.

2-Heterosporus, haploid microspores and megaspores.

3-Seeds are naked, not present inside fruits.

4-Leaves are generally dimorphic, foliage and sealed.

5-Endosperm is gametophytic, i.e always haploid.

 Male and female gametophytes do not have independent free living existence rather they are fully dependent on sporophytes
