Introduction:

Chapter 1 - Nutrition in Plants: In this chapter, you will study about the different nutrition of plants. In this chapter, you will get to know that how water and minerals absorbed by roots reach the leaves. Important topics which you will study inside this chapter: mode of nutrition in plants, the food-making process of plants.

Chapter 2 - Nutrition in Animals: This chapter will tell you about the nutrition in animals. Animals get their food from plants, either directly by eating plants or indirectly by eating animals that eat plants. Some animals eat both plants and animals. You will also study the digestion process of human beings including all the organs function which are involved in this.

Chapter 3 - Fibre to Fabric: This chapter will tell you how to obtain different fabrics from animals and insects. Here you will study all the different processes like rearing of silkworms as well as rearing and breeding of sheep. You will also get to know about the different methods which are involved in this.

Chapter 4 - Heat: This chapter will tell you about heat, how it transfers from one object to another and what are the good conductor of heat. You will also learn how to measure the temperature, as that instrument is called a thermometer. To transfer the heat, two things are required that is insulator and conductor. 

Chapter 5 - Acids, Bases and Salts: Everything which is around us, have a type of taste but we can not taste every substance, to find its nature. So to identify whether the substance is acidic, basic or any kind of salt, we use Litmus paper. pH meter is the scale through which you can measure the nature of the substance.

Chapter 6 - Physical and Chemical Changes: This chapter will tell you the different changes of substances. A change in which one or more new substances are formed is called a chemical change. A chemical change is also called a chemical reaction. Also, you will be studying rusting and other important things

Chapter 7 - Weather, Climate and Adaptations of Animals to Climate: This chapter will tell you about the weather, climate and adaptations of animals to climate. The day-to-day condition of the atmosphere at a place with respect to the temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, etc., is called the weather at that place. And if talk about the climate then, the average weather pattern taken over a long time, say 25 years, is called the climate of the place.

Chapter 8 - Winds, Storms and Cyclones: This chapter is all about the winds, storms and cyclones. Remember that the moving air is called wind. You will study that the increased wind speed is, indeed, accompanied by reduced air pressure and the region where the air pressure is high to the region where the pressure is low.

Chapter 9 - Soil: In this chapter, you will study the different layers and horizons of the soil. You will also get to know that, soil holds water in it, which is called soil moisture. The capacity of a soil to hold water is important for various crops.

Chapter 10 - Respiration in Organisms: In this chapter, you will study about the respiration in the organisms. The process of breakdown of food in the cell with the release of energy is called cellular respiration. Cellular respiration takes place in the cells of all organisms.

Chapter 11 - Transportation in Animals and Plants: In this chapter, you will study, the transportation in animals and plants. You will also study that haemoglobin binds with oxygen and transports it to all the parts of the body and ultimately to all the cells. And the blood also has white blood cells (WBC) which fight against germs that may enter our body.

Chapter 12 - Reproduction in Plants: This chapter will tell you about the reproduction in plants. The production of new individuals from their parents is known as reproduction. In this chapter, you will study different modes of reproduction.

Chapter 13 - Motion and Time: This chapter will be telling you about the motions and time of the motions. The speed of an object is the distance traveled divided by the time taken to cover that distance. Its basic unit is metre per second (m/s) and motion of objects can be presented in pictorial form by their distance-time graphs. Chapter 14 - Electric Current and its EffectsThis chapter is very interesting as in this you will study the electric current, its flow, and its effect. It is convenient to represent electric components by symbols. Chapter 15 - Light: In this chapter, you will study light and different types off mirrors. The concave mirror can form a real and inverted image. Chapter 17 - Forests: Our LifelineIn this chapter, you will study about our lifeline, that is Forest. Forest is a system comprising various plants, animals and micro-organisms. In a forest, trees form the uppermost layer, followed by shrubs. The herbs form the lowest layer of vegetation. Different layers of vegetation provide food and shelter for animals, birds, and insects. The various components of the forest are interdependent on one another.

Chapter 18 - Wastewater Story: As this one is the last chapter of Science NCERT book. In this chapter, you will study that wastewater is treated in a sewage treatment plant. Treatment plants reduce pollutants in wastewater to a level where nature can take care of it. Where underground sewerage systems and refuse disposal systems are not available, the low-cost on-site sanitation system can be adopted. By-products of wastewater treatment are sludge and biogas. Open drain system is a breeding place for flies, mosquitoes, and organisms which cause diseases.
