Let us assume, the number of atoms of element N (which forms ccp) is x.

Then no. of tetrahedral voids = 2x.

It is also given that M occupies  $\frac{1}{3}rd$ of tetrahedral voids.

So the number of atoms of element M :

$=\frac{2x}{3}$

So the molecular formula bocomes : $M$2$N$3.
