Due to +I effect of CH_{3}^{-} groups present on both the sides of the carbonyl carbon, carbonyl carbon of ketone becomes less susceptible towards nucleophilic attack. Hence CH_{3}CHO is more reactive than CH_{3}COCH_{3}.
