SPEECH ON MUSIC

Good morning esteemed principal, teachers and my dear friends. Today I will be speaking on the topic ‘Music’. Music is the soul of life. Without it life can become mundane and to be honest, lifeless. Music is what makes us feel alive. In happiness or sadness, we seek the comfort of our favourite songs because the meaning of the lyrics resonate to us. Music is a rare gift given by God, may the gift be of singing, playing instruments or creating it. Only those with great passion create good music as they portray what they feel in the best possible way. Music is an art. It is personal yet to be shared with the world. Sadly, people believe it to be just a hobby and not a profession. Only a handful of people are able to achieve such dreams. The society kills the budding dream of an aspiring artist saying it to be unrealistic and unachievable. They all want doctors, engineers and professionals but they don’t realise that art is the essence of life. These professions might be the dream of some but not of everyone. Music has cured the saddest of minds and brought closer the loneliest people. Just like in Twelfth Night, Shakespeare wrote, “If Music be the fool of love, play on, Give me excess of it”, Music is what brings us all closer. Music is the universal language. You have been a kind audience. Thank you.
