A child is born with ADA- deficiency.

(a) Permanent cure for ADA - Gene Therapy
Lymphocytes from the blood of the patient are grown n culture outside the body. A functional ADA cDNA (using a retroviral vector) is then introduced in these lymphocytes which are subsequently returned to the patient's body at early embryonic stages.
(b) Other treatment methods include - Bone marrow transplantation, Enzyme Replacement Therapy.
