If the sum of the present ages of both children =x.

Then the present age of father = 3x.

After 5 years,

sum of children age = x+5+5=x+10

Father's age = 3x+5

According to the question,

father's age after 5 years = 2(Sum of the ages of both children)

3x+5 = 2(x+10)

3x+5=2x+20

x=15

Present age of father = 3x = 3(15) = 45 years.
