A hemispherical depression is cut out from one face of a cuboidal block of side 7 cm such that the diameter of the hemisphere is equal to the edge of the cube. Find the surface area of the remaining solid.

Total surface area required=area of five sides+surfuse areas of the cube+(area of one side-area of the circle)

\\\text{Total surface area required}=5\times7^2+2\pi\times(\frac{7}{2})^2+7^2-\pi (\frac{7}{2})^2\\=49\times5+\pi\times\frac{49}{4}+49=294+38.484 =332.484cm^2
