A shopkeeper sold a racket at a loss of 26%. Had he sold it for ₹144 more, he would have gained 22%. Find the cost price of racket.

Assume the cost price of the racket is Rs CP.

Loss percentage = 26

Selling price = (1 - 0.26) CP = Rs 0.74CP

If he had sold it for 144 more => Selling price = 0.74 CP + 144

Gain percentage = 22 = (Selling Price - Cost price) x100 / Cost price

                         (0.74 CP + 144 -CP ) x100/CP = 22

                         74 + 14400/CP - 100 = 22

                         14400/CP =  100 + 22 -74 = 48

Hence the cost price of the rocket (CP) = 14400/48 = Rs 300
