According to 10% law

10% energy is transferred in next consumer out of total energy.

Let be the energy of plant - x

10% of plant's energy will transfer in Rat.

So,

10% of x = 500 J

x\times \frac{10}{100}=500\Rightarrow x=\frac{500}{10}\times 100

x=5000 J

10% of Rat's energy will transfer in Snake.

10% of 500= Snake's Energy

=\frac{500\times 10}{100}\Rightarrow 50J

So, Hawk's energy = 10% of 50

                               =\frac{10}{100}\times 50

Hawk's energy = 5 J
