Let,
 Manjit will be 3 times old as Mala after x years.

So present ages

Manjit=12  and Mala=2

after  x years

Manjit=12+x   and Mala=2+x

Manjit will be 3 times old as Mala after x years.

So 12+x=3(2+X)

We get x=3 years
