R. K. Narayan is a popular Indian writer whose full name is Rasipuram Krishnaswami Iyer Narayanswami. His work is very famous in the area of Indian Literature. He writes fictional stories. By fictional stories we mean those stories that are not real. Mostly his stories are based on a South Indian village, Malgudi. He also writes non-fictional stories and stories based on mythology.
He was born during British era in Madras, this place now post independence is known as Chennai. He was born on tenth October in the year Nineteen Hundred Six. He died on thirteenth May in the year two thousand one at the age of ninety four years. He is passed out from Maharaja College, Mysore. His wife name is Raj ram. For his work in English Literature he received various awards such as Padma Vibushan, Sahitya Akademi Fellowship and Benson medal. He has one child whose name is Hema Narayan.
