Golconda fort is situated at a distance of 11 km from Hyderabad in the western outskirts. This fort was built by the Kakatiya dynasty in the 13th century and is 400 years old.
It is also known as Golla Konda in Telugu. It is built on a 120-meter high granite hill. It is made up of mud.
Golconda was the market for diamonds that were mined from various mines at one time. It is also on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
