Given,

Age(in years):        20- 30       30-40       40-50      50-60        60-70
No. of Participants: 8 40 58 90 83

To find = modal age of participants.

Modal class =50-60  (highest number of participants)

Modal formula = M=l+\left [ \frac{\left ( f_{1}-f_{0} \right )}{(2f_{1}-f_{0}-f_{2})} \right ]\times h

Here, l=50; \; f_{0}=58;\; f_{1}=90;\; f_{2}=83;\; h=10

\Rightarrow M=50+\left [ \frac{90-58}{(2\times 90-58-83)} \right ]\times 10

              =50+\frac{32}{39}\times 10=50+\frac{320}{39}

=M=50+8.2\Rightarrow M=58.20
