Travelling means going from one place to another. Tourism means going on a tour to a place for entertainment and relaxation. Travel and Tourism is the biggest service industry in India. People not only in India but also foreigners also  come to India on tour. Tourism brings a lot of money to India. Tourism in India is for various reasons such as excursion, medical (visit to a doctor), business trip, trip to heritage places, cultural reason such as visit to a temple and for sports where people come to India for watching sports. Thus, travel and tourism  is India is aimed towards increasing jobs and opportunities for work.

The aim of our travel and tourism industry is to increase our competitiveness in the foreign market. We want to display our specialities so as to attract tourists to India. We want to remain in competition with other countries. For this purpose, we marketise our products to be in competition. We put posters, advertisements, prepare commercials and songs for the purpose of enhancing tourism.

We also hire popular personalities who advertise and perform for this country to increase our tourism and travelling business. This ensures that money come to our country. It also provides employment to many other people such as travelling agents, tourists, people in transport business, sellers and vendors, handicraft industry and other businesses. Thus, as a country we are very competitive on tourism and are taking all measures to compete with other nations for resources, money and appreciation. Supporting travelling and tourism in India is also an act of patriotism.
