Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the Brahma Samaj on 20 August 1828. It was anti idol worship, anti pilgrimage and anti rituals. Raja Ram Mohan Ray is also known as Pioneer of the Navjagran, Pioneer of the Journalism, Father of Modern Indian and Forerunner of New Prabhat. He founded Vedant College in 1825 and Hindu College of Calcutta in 1817. He published some magazines such as, Sanvad-Kaumudi, Mirat-Ul-Akhbar and Brahmanical. Mughal emperor Akbar II gave him title of 'Raja'.
