16.21 Explain the following terms with suitable examples
(i) cationic detergents
Cationic detergents -
These are quaternary ammonium salts of acetates, chlorides, or bromides. The long hydrocarbon chain part has a cationic charge, a positive charge on the Nitrogen atom. Hence these are called cationic detergents. Example- Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide
