Thus, P (E1 ∩ E2) = φ

(b) E1 & E2 are mutually exclusive and exhaustive events,

Thus, (b) → (iii)

(c) If E1 & E2 have common outcomes, then

(E1 – E2) U (E1 ∩ E2) = E1

Thus, (c) → (ii)

(d) If E1 & E2 are such that,

E1 \subset E2

Then, (E1 ∩ E2) = E1

Thus, (d) → (i).
