Forests are the major sites for the conservation of soil. The roots of trees firmly hold the soil particles to protect them from flowing away. The humus is more abundant in the soil of forests. Forests provide a variety of products, e.g., timber, paper, etc. They have greater plant diversity as different types of plants are naturally present. Forests also help in the conservation of water. Forest cover helps to conserve soil and prevent soil erosion. The growth of more trees protects the topsoil from getting exposed to strong winds that may cause soil erosion. Forests also act as a diverse source which provides food, shelter, medicines as well as raw material for industries. So the (C) statement is wrong.
