 Sides of two similar triangles are in the ratio 4 : 9.

Let triangles be ABC and DEF.

We know that

                   \frac{ar(\triangle ABC)}{ar(\triangle DEF)}=\frac{AB^2}{DE^2}=\frac{4^2}{9^2}=\frac{16}{81}

Option D is correct.
