He put covers on Monday=\frac{1}{4}

He put the cover on Tuesday =\frac{1}{4}

and the remaining on Wednesday.

Thus, the fraction of the covers he put on Wednesday =1-(\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{4})

                                                                             =1-(\frac{1}{2})

                                                                              =\frac{1}{2}
