Let us consider that,

E1 → event that person see the giraffe

E2 → event that person see the bear

We have,

P (E1) = 0.72

& P (E2) = 0.84

P (person will see giraffe as well as bear) = 0.52

Now, P (A U B) = P (A) + P (B) – P (A ∩ B)        ……. (by general addition rule)

P (E1 U E2) = P (E1) + P (E2) – P (E1 ∩ E2)

                        = 0.72 + 0.84 – 0.52

                        = 1.04 viz. not possible

Thus, the given statement is false.
