Solution:

Perpendicular distance of the plane ax  +by + cz + d = 0

(x,y,z) \text { is } d = \left | \frac{ax_{1}+by_{1}+cz_{1}+d}{a^{2}+b^{2}+c^{2}} \right |

Equation of plane parallel to x + 2y - 2z = d  is

x + 2y -2z - d = 0                                    …………………………(1)

Perpendicular distance from (1,-2,1)  is S

\text { S } = \left | \frac{1-4-2+d}{\sqrt{1+4+4}} \right |\Rightarrow d=10
