Please solve RD Sharma class 12 chapter 28 The Plane exercise Fill in the blank question 13 maths textbook solution

Answers (1)

Answer:

 -9

Hint:

 Use direction ratios

Given:

 \frac{x+1}{\lambda }=\frac{y-1}{1}=\frac{z+2}{-4}

Solution:

Let the given line is

\frac{x+1}{\lambda }=\frac{y-1}{1}=\frac{z+2}{-4}

Direction ratios are λ,1,-4

And the given plane  2x+  2y - 8z = -5

Its direction ratios are  2,2,-4

And the given line and plane are perpendicular, then

λ(1) + 1(1) + (-4)(-8) = 0

2λ + 2 + 16=0

λ = -9
