Chapter 1 The Solid State

In this chapter of NCERT 12 Chemistry, topics like solid-state, crystalline solids, amorphous solids, and structural imperfections in the solids are discussed in the chapter. There are a total of 11 sub-topics in this chapter and also to test the student’s knowledge, there are 26 questions given in the exercise at the end of the chapter.

Chapter 2 Solutions

Different types of solution, the concentration of solutions, Raoult's law, the vapour pressure of liquid solutions, colligative properties and abnormal molar masses are discussed in NCERT class 12th Chemistry chapter 2. Five-mark questions are asked from the unit'solutions' for the CBSE Board exam. In this chapter, there are a total of 7 sub-topics and 41 questions at the end of the chapter.

Chapter 3 Electrochemistry

In this unit of NCERT Chemistry class 12, there are a total of 8 sub-topics and 30 questions at the end of the chapter. Electrochemical cells, galvanic cells and electrolytic cells, the difference between galvanic and electrolytic cell, Nernst equation, the standard potential of the cell, and Gibbs energy of the cell are the main topics discussed in the chapter.

Chapter 4 Chemical Kinetics

Chemical kinetics helps students understand how chemical reactions occur. Chapter 4: Chemical kinetics deals with the rate of reaction( both average and instantaneous). The NCERT class 12th Chemistry chapter 4 also covers topics like factors affecting the rate of reaction, the integrated rate equations, the temperature dependence on the rate of reaction, etc.

Chapter 5 Surface Chemistry

Surface chemistry deals with the phenomena that occur at interfaces or surfaces. This chapter carries 4 marks in the CBSE Board exams. NCERT solutions for class 12 chemistry, chapter 5 Surface chemistry covers a total of six concepts like adsorption, catalysis colloids, etc and the exercise contains 27 questions to check students' knowledge.

Chapter 6 General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements

Chapter 7 p Block Elements

For the class 12 students, p-Block elements is the most important chapter of 12th chemistry book because this chapter is quite lengthy and also carries 8 marks in the board exam. There are a total of 23 sub-topics and 40 questions in the exercise.

Chapter 8 d and f Block Elements

This chapter is not as lengthy like chapter 7. In Chapter 8, The d- and f-block elements, there are 7 sub-topics which cover important concepts. The concepts discussed in the chapters are the d-block and f-block elements, general and physical properties of the transition elements, the formation of complex and coloured compounds, variation in ionic and atomic sizes of transition metals and many more.

Chapter 9 Coordination Compounds

solution chemistry of this chapter covers important concepts like Werner’s theory of coordination compounds, definitions of some important terms pertaining to coordination compounds, the nomenclature of coordination compounds, etc.

Chapter 10 Haloalkanes and Haloarenes

IUPAC nomenclature of haloalkanes and haloarenes compounds, important methods of preparation for haloalkanes and haloarenes, chemical and physical properties of organohalogen compounds and its uses are discussed in haloalkanes and haloarenes.

Chapter 11 Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers

This chapter starts with the IUPAC nomenclature of alcohols, phenols, and ethers. In this chapter for class 11, we will study the chemistry of three classes of compounds which are alcohols, phenols and ethers, and also discuss the reaction for the preparation of alcohols, phenols and ethers. There are a total of 6 sub-topics and 33 questions in the exercise.

Chapter 12 Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids

It is an important chapter for the class 12 students because this chapter holds a good part of marks in the CBSE board exam. In this chapter, we will study the organic compounds containing carbon-oxygen double bonds (>C=O) called carbonyl group. Carbonyl group (>C=O) is one of the most important functional groups in organic chemistry.

Chapter 13 Amines

This unit deals with organic compounds called amines. In this chapter, there are 10 sub-topics which cover structure, nomenclature and classification of amines, as well as the chemical and physical properties and method of preparation of diazonium salts.

Chapter 14 Biomolecules

characteristics and structures of biomolecules like carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, and hormones are dealt with in the chapter. After completing the chapter of class 12, students will be able to explain the difference between DNA and RNA and also describe the role of biomolecules in the biosystem.,

Chapter 15 Polymers

There are 5 sub-topics in the chapter that cover important concepts like types of polymers, explain terms like monomer, polymer, and polymerisation, classify polymers based on their source and structure, whether cross-linked or linear and also discuss their properties.

Chapter 16 Chemistry in Everyday Life

In this unit, we will study the application of chemistry in three important areas: medicines, food materials, and cleansing agents. There are a total of 5 sub-topics in this chapter that cover important concepts like drugs and their classification, drug-target interaction, chemicals in food, and cleansing agents.

I did cbse class 12th science with computers in 2023 and did not make 75% for NITS. I plan to give NIOS in october of 2024 but will that make me eligible to take admission in NITs in 2024 or do I have to wait till 2025 because results of NIOS come out after NIT session starts. Thank you for reply!

Yes you can appear for the compartment paper again since CBSE gives three chances to a candidate to clear his/her exams so you still have two more attempts. However, you can appear for your improvement paper for all subjects but you cannot appear for the ones in which you have failed.
