In DNA and RNA, nitrogen atom is present in the ring system. Can Kjeldahl method be used for the estimation of nitrogen present in these? Give reasons.
Answers (1)
In the case of DNA and RNA, nitrogen is present in the heterocyclic base and in the ring not as a substituent. Therefore, nitrogen present in the ring cannot be converted into. Hence, it cannot be estimated by the Kjeldahl method.
