Total number of balls in the bag = 8
No. of red balls = 3
No. of black balls = 5

(ii) We know,
P(not\ E) = P (\overline E) = 1 - P (E)
where E\ and\ \overline E are complementary events.

\therefore Probability of not getting the red ball
= 1 - Probability\ of\ getting\ a\ red\ ball
\\ = 1 - \frac{3}{8} \\ = \frac{5}{8}
